Ingredient of the week: Shea Butter

We absolutely love Shea butter here at Sinensis.

We absolutely love Shea Butter here at Sinensis.

It is an ingredient that has so many beneficial qualities. And what makes it even better, is that it isn’t synthetic or chemically altered. It is one hundred percent na-tu-ral (which is another reason why we use it).

Here’s a quick lesson on Shea Butter for those who didn’t already know:

Shea Butter is extracted from the nut of the African Shea Tree, which is also known as Vitellaria Paradoxa. In its rawest form, it is an ivory or light yellow colour.

Shea Butter is also classified as a fat. If you want to watch how organic Shea Butter is made, click here (I have a youtube link)

Like other ‘butters’ used within cosmetics and skincare, Shea Butter is a product that works perfectly on its own, or combined with other ‘superfoods’ for your skin.

With the temperamental British weather, it is easy for skin to dry out, whether you are in the sun or sitting near air conditioning indoors at work.

The natural vitamins and fats in Shea Butter make it intensely moisturising for the skin, whilst also protecting the skin's natural oils (basically, its skin's best friend!)

There are a ton of other uses for Shea Butter, but here are our top 5!:

  • Dry Skin
  • Skin rash
  • Skin peeling after tanning
  • Sunburn
  • Blemishes and wrinkles

Shea Butter is a blessing to the skincare industry. We use it because it’s natural, integrative and chemical-free.
